The Lavender field in Provence is a Plein Aire painting done in three hours. I tried to capture the spirit of the impressionists. This is a painting that is both timeless and also has a 19th century feel to it. One could almost imaging Monet sitting there and working on his canvas. The Boulangerie is probably where he would have gone for a coffee and a croissant. The pink walls of the Boulangerie contrasts with the purple lavender creating a peaceful scene. I wanted to capture these feelings onto my canvas.
